Orica CEO Says Consumer Unit Spin Off Will Be Pursued from Bloomberg Orica Ltd., the world's largest industrial explosives maker, said it will pursue the shelved spinoff of its consumer products unit. "Strategically speaking that's still the right thing to do and we will, when the conditions are right," Chief Executive Officer Graeme Liebelt said at a lunch in Melbourne, Australia.

Blast Blows Amite Bridge into River from 2TheAdvocate After a countdown, the superstructure of the 77-year-old U.S. 190 Bridge over the Amite River fell straight down and was enveloped in a cloud of dust. The roar of 125 pounds of explosives going off reached onlookers more than 1,000 feet away. The crowd watched as some 20 shaped charges sliced the span into five pieces that now must be plucked from the river.

Elkhorn Goldfields buys Montana Tunnels from the Helena Independent Record Denver-based Apollo Gold has struck a deal to sell its interest in the idle Montana Tunnels Mine near Jefferson City. Elkhorn Goldfields, a subsidiary of which already held a 50 percent interest in Montana Tunnels Mining, Inc., agreed to pay $9 million for the remainder of Apollo's assets, including its milling facility.

Explosives Trigger Big Blast: Crews Detonate Bomb Dropped at Hill from Deseret News Explosives and emergency-management teams at Hill Air Force Base detonated an unexploded bomb in a remote area of the base. The Mark-82 general-purpose bomb was one of two jettisoned from an F-16 that experienced an in-flight emergency on takeoff. Air Force officials said the pilot followed emergency procedures, which included cutting loose the external fuel tanks and the two unarmed Mk-82s from beneath the fighter plane. He was then able to land safely on base.
